Kentucky Drowns in the Swamp

Morgan Newton was fed to the Gators today at the Swamp as Kentucky was dominated by Florida 38-0.

Kentucky’s usual starting quarterback, Maxwell Smith, was out with an injured shoulder and the the offense couldn’t ever get above water.

Morgan Newton threw 3 interceptions in the first half, and even though the Kentucky defense played its best game of the season, there was no way the Wildcats could recover.

If it wasn’t over throws on short passes, it was over throws on deep passes, and Morgan Newton made it known why he didn’t win the starting quarterback job.

The biggest question today was why Newton was put in the situation he was for so long, as many thought freshman Jalen Whitlow should have played long before the 4th quarter, which was when he finally saw the field. The decisiion wouldn’t have been about winning and losing, but saving Morgan Newton from what ensued.

You can check out what happened in the first half here, but the second half was pretty much the same as Florida used long drives to score on a worn out Kentucky defense.

I am just sad that Kentucky pretty much quit after halftime and that is not good news for Joker Phillips job status at the University of Kentucky.

South Carolina comes into Commonwealth Stadium next week and the big question is if Kentucky has a chance to win, but how many will actually show up to watch it.

Here are the game notes from Florida’s 26th straight win over Kentucky:
