Kentucky mounted a 17-point comeback in the second half, but couldn’t come away with a win over Utah in Las Vegas early this morning.
The Wildcats had a shot at the buzzer to send the game overtime, but it rimmed out and the Utes came away with a 69-66 victory.
After the game, John Calipari talked about his team’s poor performance:

The key play that likely doomed Kentucky came with 22.7 seconds to go when Tyrese Maxey drove to the rim. One of the officials emphatically called a blocking foul on Utah, which would have resulted in two free throws for Maxey, trailing by two points.
Instead, the refs decided to review the play and overturned the call, determining it was a charge on Maxey.
After officials reviewed the play, it has been changed to a charge on @TyreseMaxey. Utah ball with 22.7 seconds left.
The Cats trail by two.

The refs excuse for reviewing this was to see if ‘he was inside the arc.’ What is the ref on the baseline looking at here if he has to review this? pic.twitter.com/04gSJu5gkE
