While UK announced average crowds of 18,615 for a homestand against exclusively low-major opponents, that figure is considered a measure of tickets distributed. Actual attendance was far lower.
The average number of tickets actually scanned at Rupp Arena during the homestand was 10,439, according to data obtained by the Courier Journal through an open records request. The Nov. 29 game against Central Michigan saw just 8,962 tickets scanned. The highest attendance came on Nov. 26 against North Florida when 12,429 tickets were scanned.
Those attendance numbers represent a 27.7% drop in tickets scanned from the first eight home games of the 2019-20 season (the last year full capacity was allowed at Rupp Arena).
