TEAM NOTES
Kentucky broke from its grueling stretch of top-10 foes for a four-game week, picking up a midweek win over Austin Peay, before Tennessee snapped an eight-game skid in conference play with wins over UK on Saturday and Sunday. No. 13 UK will host No. 8 Louisville on Tuesday and travel to No. 8 South Carolina for a three-game series at Carolina Stadium.
Kentucky (24-11, 7-8 Southeastern Conference) picked up a 6-3 win over Austin Peay on Tuesday, before posting a 5-4 win over Tennessee on Friday night as UK rallied from behind in the eighth inning. UT held off UK’s rally on Saturday in the ninth inning, as the Vols won 10-9. On Sunday, UT broke open the scoreless game as four consecutive hitters reached base safely to start the sixth inning, leading to the three runs. UT righty Zack Godley fired a 130-pitch complete game shutout to secure the series for the Vols.
The Wildcats will play four top-10 teams for the second of the last three weeks starting on Tuesday with No. 8 Louisville at 6:30 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium. UK will then travel to No. 8 South Carolina for a three-game series at Carolina Stadium.
