Kentucky baseball off to best start in a decade

The last few seasons were tough for head coach Nick Mingione and the Kentucky baseball team, but the Wildcats have opened the 2022 season on a tear.

Kentucky baseball is off to its best start in a decade with an undefeated 7-0 record.

The Wildcats will host Western Kentucky today and Evansville tomorrow in mid-week action.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sitting at 7-0 for the first time in 10 years, the Kentucky baseball team hosts a pair of midweek games before a ranked TCU squad comes to Kentucky Proud Park this weekend.

First pitch for both midweek games is 4 p.m. ET. Western Kentucky comes to town Tuesday and Evansville on Wednesday. Both games will stream live on SEC Network+.

The Wildcats scored three walk-off victories in four games at home last week, including an eight-run comeback on Saturday. It was the largest comeback in a victory since at least 2005 for the program.

Infielder Jacob Plastiak leads the team with 12 runs scored and three home runs through seven games.
