According to Fightin’ Gators.com (Scout.com), 2013 point guard Kasey Hill of Montverde Academy has narrowed his list to seven schools: Louisville, Kentucky, USF, Florida, Missouri, NC State, and Florida State.
This is what Hill had to say about each of the teams on his list:
NCSU – “I feel like they let their guards play. They are an up and down team and they get after it on both ends offensively and defensively.”
Mizzou – “They let their guards play and they push the ball in transition. That is my style.”
Kentucky – “I feel like they are the same way and they have a great coach, in Coach Calipari. He puts guys in the NBA.”
Louisville – “All the schools that I am naming fit my style of play and they run up and down and play and I like that.”
USF – “I feel like I have a great relationship with Coach Stan Heath. I have known him since I was in about sixth grade when his son and I were on the same AAU team together. He would never recruit me. We just always talk about different things. We have built a great relationship and I trust him so much.”
Florida State – “I like their style as well. They play up and down and let the guards play. I also have a good relationship with assistant coach Stan Jones. I also think Leonard Hamilton will turn that program around and that is pretty big.
The Florida Gators are the seventh team on the list and there is no mistaken what draws Hill to the Gators. Head Coach Billy Donovan will be a Hall of famer one day and Hill likes all the intangibles that Donovan brings to the table as a coach.
“Billy Donovan is known as a great coach and has the titles,” Hill said. “He has been there a long time and put a bunch of guys in the NBA.
“Coach Donovan, he is just a great coach. He just wins and has a winning tradition. I have had a few conversations with him. It is definitely big that he played point guard and especially that he played some in the NBA. He can teach me so many things having played the position.”
“I can see myself playing the style at Florida.
“Coach Matt McCall is recruiting me (at Florida), he is my guy. We have bonded very well and are always on the same page.”
