John Calipari to be Inducted into Pittsburgh Club Basketball Hall of Fame

Kentucky head basketball coach John Calipari is going to be honored again this weekend to join another Hall of Fame.

The Naismith Hall of Fame coach will now join his hometown’s Pittsburgh Club Basketball Hall of Fame.

This weekend, John Calipari will return to where his journey started as the Moon Township, Pennsylvania native will be inducted into the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Hall of Fame. Calipari is part of the Silver Anniversary Hall of Fame Class, which honors Western Pennsylvania natives who have left a lasting impact on the game of basketball through playing, coaching or contributions.

“I feel tremendously honored to be inducted to the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Hall of Fame,” Calipari said. “Much of who I am as a coach and person is because of my upbringing and the relationships that were formed on the basketball courts throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding communities. Being recognized as a member of the Silver Anniversary Hall of Fame Class, along with so many other Western Pennsylvania greats, is truly an honor.”

The ceremony will be held Saturday, September 1 at at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. Calipari got his trip to his hometown started Thursday night with a trip to the Pittsburgh Steelers game.
