John Calipari Celebrity Softball Game Recap

I was in attendance last night for the Inaugural John Calipari Celebrity Softball Game and must admit, it was a lot more fun than I had anticipated.

The forecast looked damning, it was going to be HOT. Then, there was a torrential downpour and it looked like the game may be cancelled. So, I must say, I didn’t care if the game happened or not at that point.

Boy am I glad that the game went on. It was an exciting game for both players and fans. And, it raised more than $250,000 for charity.

There is nothing better than that.

Karl-Anthony Towns was the winner of the Home Run Derby, beating out a former baseball star. If for some reason the NBA doesn’t work out, the MLB should be ready to sign him after that performance.

Along with Towns, former John Calipari coached Wildcats Andrew Harrison, Terrence Jones and Nerlens Noel showed up for the cause.

Former Wildcat stars Rex Chapman, Tim Couch, Jared Lorenzen, Keith Bogans, NFL Hall of Fame wide-recover Cris Carter, along with actors Steve Zahn and Josh Hopkins, among others were also in the mix for this celebrity studded event.

By the end of the night, Team Towns (coached by Karl-Anthony Towns) beat Team Calipari 18-12.

It may not have been pretty, but it sure was fun for all involved.
