When Marcus Lee said he thinks the the bigs didnt’ do enough, John Calipari thought that was totally an incorrect statement.
He didn’t think they did anything.
“I don’t think that’s true. I don’t think they contributed anything.”
Can the Wildcats win games in the NCAA Tournament without the froncourt showing up?
It doesn’t sound possible to Calipari as he just wants any type of contribution from his frontcourt.
This is his reply when asked what is the minimum contribution his bigs need to give.
“Anything right now. Just give us something. Give us a couple blocks, give us a couple baskets. They’re capable. I mean, Skal struggled, Isaac (Humphries) struggled. They all struggled.Let me just say this: Their frontcourt players were better than our frontcourt players today. Now, they weren’t when they played us in Lexington. So you tell me – I wish I had the answer. I don’t. Our bigs were better than their bigs at our place. Their bigs were better than ours here and took it right at us and we did not fight back. That’s just what happened.”
It sounds to me that Jamal Murray and Tyler Ulis, especially when one of them is having a rough game, will not be able to carry this team to another Final Four.
It needs its bigs to be big.
