Jodie Meeks will be out of action longer than expected following surgery on his right foot.
Meeks will miss 3-4 months rather than the original prognosis of 6-8 weeks.
Here are more details from DetroitNews.com:
The Pistons won’t see much of Meeks, who will miss three to four months following surgery to repair a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal, otherwise known as a Jones fracture. Meeks is expected to fly home to Atlanta for the next two weeks while the team is on an 11-day western swing that begins Friday in Phoenix.
Meeks won’t begin workouts until he returns to the Detroit area.
“Just try to stay optimistic,” Meeks said. “You can’t control injuries. You can’t control playing time and stuff like that. It is what it is. I had surgery and surgery went well. I am trying to get back as soon as possible.”
Meeks was injured in the Pistons’ 92-87 win over the Jazz last week. He heard a pop while rolling over the top while defending a pick and roll. Meeks got a break on the break. It was clean and will make the healing process easier.
“It’s not season-ending,” he said. “I got to take my time and make sure I am healthy before I come back, just like last year.”
