Lafayette’s Jackson Davis scored his 2000th career point on a tip-in during the Generals’ 68-53 win over LCA. He is the program’s all-time leading scorer and first player in school history to score 2000 points. Davis finished with a game-high 25 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. He was 11-17 from the field.
Davis’ 2000th career point came at the 7:15 mark of the 3rd quarter on a putback after a Dequise Robinson layup attempt. An announcement was made to the crowd recognizing the achievement.
Lucky Jackson added 17 points, 5 steals, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block. Dequise Robinson and Lance Blakely had 7 points each. Jaquante Carpenter chipped in 5 points for the Generals.
Lafayette led 31-20 at the half and led by as much as 19 in the third quarter. LCA rallied to close the gap to 3 and trailed 49-46 with 5:26 remaining in the game, but the effort was not enough. The Generals once again stretched the lead back out to as much as 19 to seal the 68-53 victory.
Michael Young and Drew Schacht led LCA with 14 points each. Young also grabbed 8 rebounds. Schacht dished out 3 assists. Drew Trimble scored 12 points and 9 rebounds for the Eagles.
Lafayette moves to 12-5 on the season. The Generals will travel to Scott County for the Toyota Classic on Jan. 22. LCA moves to 9-7 and will face Shelby County on Jan. 18.
