CBS Sports recently listed their “Friday Five: The Most Surprising Teams Of 2015 So Far.”
Did Kentucky get put on that list?
Number 1 is Utah, and that is no surprise that they have impressed a few people this year after putting a beating on Oregon. Defeating the Ducks by 42 point.
Number 2 is Northwestern, with their elite defense. The most points they have allowed thus far is 19 points to Ball State.
Number 3 is Texas Tech, with dominating offense. Ranked 4th in the nation in both yards per game and yards per play, as well as 3rd in points per game.
Number 4 is Kentucky, with wins over 2 SEC teams already. Here is the excerpt:
The Wildcats have surprised me, and I say that as a person who actually predicted Kentucky would win the SEC East last October. It was more a statement on the state of the SEC East than it was belief in Kentucky, though. This year, I’m not going to make the same crazy prediction, but you know what? Kentucky might finish in the top three, maybe even top two of the division.
It’s not that crazy! The Wildcats have already played three games within the SEC East, and they’ve won two of them! The sole loss was to Florida. Yes, there are still a lot of difficult games on the schedule, but picking up wins against South Carolina and Missouri already is big. Plus, the Wildcats get the Vols in Lexington. Kentucky fans may not be in such a hurry for basketball season this year.
Number 5 is Iowa, with their highly efficient passing offense. Top efficiency in the Big 10 and their 8.7 yards per attempt ranks 26th nationally.
