Rivals.com recently had a Q&A with recruiting analyst Corey Evans about several UK Basketball related topics and one of them included the eligibility of Olivier Sarr.
It sounds like Evans thinks Sarr’s eligibility chances improved with Johnny Juzang’s positive transfer waiver result.
Q: Any new word on Olivier Sarr? The NCAA ruled pretty quickly and favorably on Johnny Juzang and a couple of others. Does that expedite Sarr’s process any and does it give any indicators on what they will decide?
Evans: “Yeah, you’re exactly right on. You’ve been pretty specific also, there is no correlation between Johnny and Olivier outside of both being transfers. I haven’t heard much about it. Most don’t even know when the waiver is going to be granted or denied. But that definitely is a step in the right direction, because I can’t recall in recent years a waiver being processed so quickly. For Johnny to have his waiver granted within a matter of two or three weeks, that says to me that the NCAA is trying to be as transparent and quick to get to these waivers in a timely manner. We’ve seen guys and it’s December and they’re just hearing about their waiver. They’re deciding then if the waiver is granted do they just redshirt because they’ve already missed eight games. Now that’s not Sarr’s case, but it is good, promising news for Kentucky fans. So at least they know that the roster is going to look like hopefully this summer.”
