GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men’s basketball team lost at No. 8 Georgetown (Ky.) by a final score of 84-80 on Saturday afternoon at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
In a game where the two teams combined to only turn the ball over 20 times, the Tigers (5-2, 2-2 Mid-South Conference) converted 31-of-60 field-goal attempts (.517), including 44.0 percent of their three-point shots (11-of-25).
Conversely, the Blue Raiders (4-4, 1-2 MSC) shot 46.3 percent from the floor (31-of-67) and converted on 5-of-14 three-point field-goal attempts (.357).
Despite outrebounding Georgetown by a 43-to-29 margin, Lindsey Wilson ultimately could not overcome its 45-35 halftime deficit.
The Blue Raiders kept it close as late as 1:49 remaining, but the Tigers converted their free throws when it mattered and the last-second Lindsey Wilson shots did not fall, giving Georgetown the slim 84-80 victory.
Charles Sutton scored a team-high 16 points for the Blue Raiders. D’on Hall totaled 15 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of assists. Julian Edmonson had 13 points, and Kevin Bradshaw finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Tony Horne totaled 12 points, eight rebounds and two steals.
For the host Tigers, Gerard Coleman scored a game-best 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-8 from three-point range. Noah Cottrill had 17 points, and Deondre McWhorter totaled 14 points, six rebounds and four blocks. Bopper Stenzel scored 12 points.
The Blue Raiders play next against Voorhees (S.C.) on Friday as part of the Lindsey Wilson Classic. The opening tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT.
