Former John Calipari assistant Tony Barbee was recently named MAC Coach of the Year after guiding Central Michigan to an 18-13 overall record and fourth place finish in the MAC with a 12-6 record.
Barbee was also named one of 25 finalists for the 2023-24 Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year Award. The award is presented annually to the top minority head coach in NCAA Division I college basketball.
Barbee was an assistant on Coach Cal’s staff at Kentucky from 2014-2021. He has spent time as a head coach at UTEP, Memphis and Central Michigan.
