The Kentucky Wildcats had little trouble with the injury depleted Georgia Bulldogs today in Rupp Arena.
Here are my 5 quick observations from today’s blowout win:
1. Would you have imagined that Dominique Hawkins’ playing time would have diminished this much? Cal and the coaching staff was singing the praises of the reigning Kentucky Mr. Basketball just a week ago. Hawkins better start gaining confidence in his offensive game or we will only be seeing him with the walk-ons.
2. Julius Randle’s numbers weren’t outstanding today, but I did like how he moved the basketball to an open James Young after he was triple teamed on the block. If Randle can beat double and triple teams by getting his teammates involved this team will be a lot better for it.
3. Derek Willis finally got a little run in the first half today and made sure to go straight to the rim and score when he got his chance. I would love to have a couple of more blowouts so Willis can have a shot to get comfortable.
4. Was anyone else expecting a loud ovation for Jarrod Polson when he first entered the game in the 1st half? The Rupp Arena crowd was asleep on that one.
5. Andrew Harrison continued giving the gift of the lob today and as I have said before, he is the best point guard we have had that can throw the lob. Andrew is getting better every game, and as he improves, so does this team.
Final boxscore of Kentucky’s win over Georgia.
