Kentucky freshman quarterback Drew Barker should be a senior in high school getting ready for graduation, instead he is right in the mix of a quarterback competition with Patrick Towles at Kentucky. Barker and Towles were both impressive at the spring game, but which one can save this Kentucky football program?
Edward Ashcoff of ESPN thinks Drew Barker is one of three SEC quarterbacks who can get their team going in the right direction.
Drew Barker, Fr., Kentucky: While he will still be in the thick of a heated competition with redshirt sophomore Patrick Towles this fall, there’s no question that Barker is being viewed by most as the future of Kentucky’s program. The future could be sooner than later if he continues develop through fall camp. Barker being the guy doesn’t mean the Wildcats will make it back to a bowl game this season, but it could start the wheels in motion for this program to rebound. That’s a lot for a true freshman to take in, but he signed up for this.
