Former Kentucky big man Eloy Vargas will continue his professional basketball career in Venezuela.
Vargas has signed with Trotamundos de Carabobo in Venezuela’s top-level LPB league.

Trotamundos de Carabobo (LPB) landed 30-year old Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-113kg-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International). He played most recently at Gimnasia in Argentinian La Liga. In 42 games he averaged impressive 15.8ppg, 9.3rpg (#2 in the league), 1.8apg and 1.0spg last season. Good year as he was selected League Player of the Week (2 times).
The previous (17-18) season Vargas played at Gimnasia (LigaA) in Argentinian league where in 6 games he had 13.0ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.3apg.
In 2014 (two years after he left the college) Vargas was drafted by Los Angeles D-Fenders (D-League) in first round (17th overall).
He attended University of Kentucky until 2012 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
Vargas has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
Among other achievements he won Dominican Rep. LNB championship title in 2014, 2015 and 2017. Vargas received also Latinbasket.com All-Dominican Rep. LNB Center of the Year award back in 2016.
He represented Dominican Republic at the Centrobasket in Panama City (Panama) three years ago. Vargas’ team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 6 games: 12.0ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.0apg, FGP: 45.5%, FT: 75.9%.
