The New York Knicks took a chance on Kentucky’s Eloy Vargas this summer and it paid off for the 6’11” forward from the Dominican Republic.
Eloy played more inside-out during his time in Las Vegas and put to rest any questions about his ability to shoot the basketball.
Vargas finished 12 for 25 from the field for a strong 48% from the field and also displayed some range hitting 40% of his shots from behind the arc.
Eloy only played an average of 15.8 minutes per game due to a crowded frontcourt, but averaged 5.6 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Eloy Vargas has proven he is a hard worker, displayed by his toned frame and ability to run the floor, and has obviously worked on his shot to be a consistent shooter from anywhere to 15-20 feet.
Working on his ability to catch and shoot will be one aspect of his game that he needs to work on, while hitting shots off the dribble was a strength during his time with the Knicks.
There has been no word yet on whether the Knicks or another NBA team will offer him a contract, but most will agree, the NBA Summer League really improved Eloy Vargas’ chances to catch on with a NBA team in the future.
