Kentucky’s Eloy Vargas scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds as the Dominican Republic beat Uruguay 86-78 to qualify for the World Championships next summer in Spain.
Kentucky assistant Orlando Antigua has now led the DR to their first spot in the Worlds since 1978 and only the 2nd time in the nation’s history.
The Dominican will now play in the semi-finals which begins Tuesday.
