Eastern Kentucky University and Jacksonville State University have informed the Ohio Valley Conference that they are leaving the league.
According to the OVC’s statement, EKU informed the league in writing and Jacksonville State verbally informed OVC officials of their plans.
Here is a statement from OVC Commissioner Beth DeBauche in regard to OVC membership transition:
“Eastern Kentucky University informed us in writing, and Jacksonville State University has verbally informed us of their intention to leave the Ohio Valley Conference. By its very nature, conference membership is dynamic as institutional priorities and areas of focus change. We respect that evolution and value the fact both institutions will always be a valued part of our illustrious past. We wish them well and plan to follow our rules to ensure a smooth transition process.

EKU, Jacksonville State and Central Arkansas will play the 2021 football season as part of the WAC. All three will then move on to the Atlantic Sun Conference starting in 2022.
The only thing WAC in 2021 will be EKU’s travel schedule.
