Mark Stoops has confirmed that senior Dorian Baker will miss the entire 2017 football season for Kentucky.
However, the news isn’t all bad as Baker is expected to return next season:
“He’ll be out for this entire season, which is a real shame,” Stoops said on his weekly radio show. “Obviously we could use him. He’s a big-time difference maker. He was going into his senior year, and the bad thing about that for him is you go back and look and he was so solid all offseason, all spring and all summer. He was strong as could be.”
Baker sustained the injury in a preseason scrimmage and had surgery on his ankle the next week.
The good news for Kentucky is that Stoops expects Baker to use his medical redshirt and return next season.
“Fortunately we have that redshirt year available to us,” Stoops said. “He’ll use that and be back next year.”
