Kentucky fans have looked forward to seeing Alex Poythress, Preseason All American by the Sporting News, 2nd Team All-SEC and one of the top freshman in the country by CBS Sports.
Anyone see him last night?
Alex Poythress had only 5 points on 2-4 from the field and only had 2 rebounds.
Yes, 2 rebounds.
Poythress has been called a NBA ready body, built like a greek god, but I am beginning to question if he has a NBA ready mentality.
Coach John Calipari definitely wasn’t pleased with the 6’8″ forward from Clarksville, Tennessee.
“Alex was okay, didn’t rebound and didn’t do all the things he’s capable of doing. You’re going against a 6’1″ guy, you don’t leave your feet, you come to a jump stop. Just score. If you miss the first one, rebound the second one and stick it in.”
Poythress will have great games, will rebound, and make spectacular plays throughout the season.
The big question is will he be consistent or take games off like he did last night with a division 3 opponent?
It is only November 6th and he is only a freshman, but Alex Poythress’ inconsistency could play a big part of how many games this team wins and how deep they go into the tournament.
