Devin Booker has been receiving a lot of attention since he received an offer from John Calipari to play basketball at Kentucky.
Booker spoke with CBS Sports’ Jeff Borzello about his offer and his recruitment situation with Duke.
“That was great,” Booker said. “[John] Calipari is one of the best in the game right now. He puts great teams together and wins national championships, and that’s what you want to do.”
Michigan, Michigan State, Florida, North Carolina and Missouri are also coming after Booker. He’s taken unofficial visits to most of those schools.
One intriguing option for Booker is Duke, which offered him in late February on a visit to the Blue Devils’ campus.
“Duke has been on me about six months now,” he said. “I’ve been up there to Cameron, and they did offer. With the Grayson Allen [commitment], I don’t know yet. It’s not going to take Duke all the way off the list, because I feel I can earn my spot, so I’m just going to see how everything goes.”
Booker hasn’t conducted any in-home visits yet and doesn’t plan on cutting down his list until after the summer. Once that happens, he will begin to take his visits.
Relationships are going to be very important to Booker when he makes his college decision.
“Trust,” he said when asked what he was looking for in a school. “Have trust in the coaching staff. I trust the players I’m going to be with. Know who I’m going to be playing with. I think that’s most important.”
If I had to pick my favorite recruit in the 2014 class it would have to be Booker.
I love shooters.
