Bullitt East was tested on the road tonight at Oldham County, but Kentucky signee Derek Willis willed his team to a 50-43 victory.
Willis scored 19 points on 8-12 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds as Bullitt East stayed a perfect 8-0 on the season.
This is the third time that I have watched Derek Willis and no question this is the best he has looked. He ran the floor, hustled on defense which led to a steal and a block late in the 4th quarter to put away a feisty Oldham County team on the road.
No one will every accuse of Derek of being selfish as he is the exact opposite, almost to a fault. There are times he could be more active on the offensive end, especially after he gets offensive rebounds. He seems befuddled after he gets a board, and one example of this is in the following video:
I guess all I would like to see more is to be more aggressive on the offensive end and look to go right back up with the basketball after getting the rebound.
It was a good outing for Derek Willis and he had a couple of really nice highlights:
