David Padgett Notified That Louisville Will Move in a Different Direction

As expected, Louisville has decided to let interim head coach David Padgett go and will move in a different direction.

Padgett told Evan Daniels that he was notified by AD Vince Tyra today:

From the article:

“They are going in a different direction,” Padgett said. “They appreciated my efforts and everything I did with this team and to make it a good situation, obviously they wished me nothing but the best and I feel the same about the university.”

Padgett, 33, took over the program following Rick Pitino’s dismissal in late September. Padgett led the team to a 22-14 record, including a pair of wins in the NIT, while navigating tumultuous circumstances.

“All thing considered and given the circumstances, everything went pretty well,” Padgett said when asked about the season. “Did we achieve everything we wanted? No, but the players gave maximum effort from the first practice to the last game and gave me some increased learning experiences. I couldn’t ask for a better team to coach and all things consider I think we had did a good job.”
