Dan Mullen and his Florida Gators aren’t taking any chances with COVID-19 after what they went through earlier this season.
The Gators refused to use Vanderbilt’s locker room today, remaining on the field during halftime.

According to Mullen, it’s because the visiting locker room at Vandy is too small. He explained on ESPN’s College GameDay show:
“Well for us, one of the things we noticed, visiting locker rooms are really small, condensed. Everybody’s on top of each other,” Mullen said. “So we got here really late. We got dressed, everything done at the hotel, so all we’re going to do here is just throw on our cleats for warmup and we’ll clear the field really late, and then right before kickoff just throw our shoulder pads on and come out and play.”
Florida arrived at Commodore Stadium just about an hour before an 11 a.m. local kickoff. Typically the Gators would arrive about two hours ahead of kickoff, getting some time to get ready in the locker room ahead of the contest.
But the Gators don’t plan to spend much time in the locker room today at all.
Players showed up dressed up in game pants rather than the typical athletic shorts they wear during the normal pregame routine. And they’ll simply throw on shoulder pads late to get ready to play.
Here’s Mullen talking to the media earlier this week:
