Could It Be the Magnificent 7 for the Kentucky Wildcats?

John Calipari was very happy with Charles Matthews last night, so much so that he said the freshman from Chicago has earned his way into the rotation.

“I thought Charles Matthews was outstanding. I think he moved into the rotation now. If you ask me, he changed the whole game. It’s not what he just did offensively, it’s what he did defensively and coming up with balls and being active and trying. And I said, look, get in the gym and shoot free throws. If he makes free throws, he’s in that seven-man rotation and he pushes guys out.”

Matthews finished with 3 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal in 18 minutes.

John Calipari went on to basically confirm that the 7 man rotation is more reality right now than something that he is just knocking around as an idea.

This news isn’t good for Derek Willis and Dominique Hawkins and their chances of making an impact on this team on a consistent basis.

Hawkins saw the floor for 3 minutes last night, and was really only in the game for 30 seconds before garbage time, until he was pulled for a defensive mistake.

Derek Willis played 9 minutes, but was only 1 for 6 from the field, 0-3 from behind the arc and finished with only 2 points.

Are you happy with Tyler Ulis, Jamal Murray, Isaiah Briscoe, Alex Poythress, Skal Labissiere, Marcus Lee, and Charles Matthews only playing for the Kentucky Wildcats this season?

Who do you think deserves a shot at minutes off the bench?
