Can Kennedy Meeks Fit Into the Kentucky 2013 Puzzle?

John Calipari has already wowed the college basketball world again with an unbelievable 2013 class and the crazy thing about it is he is still looking to add another 5 star recruit.

Everyone knows that John Calipari would love to have Julius Randle, and if that doesn’t work out, Tyler Roberson and Aaron Gordon will more than likely come into the mix.

A name that you might not be as familiar with is 6’9″, 275lb center Kennedy Meeks from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Meeks caught Calipari’s eye over the summer and could be a backup plan if the above names do not work out.

The four-star big man still lists Kentucky, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Indiana, and Georgetown on his list; and just visited UNC last weekend for their midnight madness event.

Kennedy Meeks is ranked #18 by ESPN, #52 by Rivals, #47 by 24/7 Sports, and #31 by Scout.com.

The Wildcats began pursing Meeks harder this fall, after Calipari must’ve been impressed with what he saw from Meeks in his standout performance at the Nike Peach Jam in July’s AAU period. As a wide and skilled back to the basket player, Meeks resembles a poor man’s DeMarcus Cousins.

Calipari already has Marcus Lee, which plays the same position as Meeks. I would be very surprised if the last spot falls to Meeks, but it is always nice to have choices.
