As the CATS prepare for Radford on tuesday, Coach Cal shared some thoughts in today’s presser on where the team is at and what they need to work on. (Hat Tip to Matt May from Cat’s Pause)
On Anthony Davis:
[I]”He’s just got to get tougher right now. Until he does that it doesn’t matter what we try to do you’re just throwing balls at the rim, whether they’re dunks or whatever,” Calipari said. “You’ve got to bend over and play an aggressive game. Part of it is we throw it to him in the high post and drive the ball, but then again you have to be physical, you have to bend over and play through bumps. It’s all stuff like just catch it and get rid of it. You’ve got to do and play in an aggressive way, you’ve got to bend over. [SIZE=2]”He’s got to bend. It’s not hard to bend over and bend those knees. If you’re standing straight up and down you have no leverage. Most guys are not strong from the waist up, they’re strong from the waist down. That’s where they get their leverage. If you’re standing straight up and down you have no strength and then you have no balance and you look like you’re flopping around out there.”[/SIZE][/I]

[I]”We just have to get better acclimated with each other and I’ve got to do a better job with Marquis Teague, getting him to have a better feel,” Calipari said. “He’s obviously not understanding because he’s not playing the way I want him to play so that comes back to me. He is listening and he does want to do the right things, he’s just not playing the right way yet. It takes time.”[/I]
On Facing Zones:
[I][SIZE=2]”I thought we were good enough to win and just make plays and we weren’t. I take responsibility for how played against that 3-2. We never got to ball to the corners, there were a lot of things we needed to do that we didn’t do that they weren’t told. If you expect them to know then you’re making a mistake, but I know better because I’m coaching all young teams.”[/SIZE][/I]
