Mark Stoops gave a couple of updates on injuries to his Kentucky Football team as they prepare for the upcoming game with Florida.
Stoops sounded like Braylon Heard could be a possibility, but it doesn’t sound good for wide receiver Javess Blue.
Stoops said “We’ll see. Day‑to‑day right now. I don’t feel great about Blue.”
He also updated the status of offensive lineman Zach West and wide receiver Jeff Badet.
Stoops said this about West, “I’m worried about Zach (West). Told you last week, it happened late in the week. He’s got a strange issue. He’s got some fluid. You thought it might be he slept on it wrong or something that caused a little bit of nerve damage. He’s bothered by that. There’s some fluid around it. He will not be cleared to play until he gets full range and strength. They have no idea when that will be. Could be a couple days, a week, a month. I have no clue.”
It sounds like Jeff Badet still has a way to go before he gets back on the field. Stoops said, “He had to get clearance from me to wear sunglasses on the sideline. But he’s got the eye issue. Really there’s some things that we’re still working out with the leg, as well.”
Alex Montgomery also has been out of action, but Stoops made it sound like he isn’t that far away from action. “I do expect him back this year. Not this week,” Stoops concluded.
The Wildcats have seen a lot of success so far with a lot of talented players inactive the first two games of the season.
Kentucky will need to get through the Florida game without anymore casualties going into the bye week and then hopefully be close to full strength playing Vanderbilt in Commonwealth.
