Bossi breaks down storylines in final SEC/Big 12 Challenge

Eric Bossi of 247 Sports has a breakdown of interesting storylines for the final SEC/Big 12 Challenge.

Of course, one of the biggest games of the weekend will take place in Rupp Arena when Kansas and Kentucky do battle.

Here’s an excerpt about the blue bloods battle from Bossi:

In Lexington, we are looking at two teams headed in different directions. Just a few weeks ago, the sky was falling on Kentucky. The Wildcats had lost to South Carolina at home and the fanbase was visibly frustrated with John Calipari. Since then, five-star freshman Cason Wallace has been given more ball handling duties while reigning National Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe has averaged a manly 18.5 points and 16.8 rebounds over the last four games.

On the other side of the court, the Jayhawks are spiraling. Kansas has lost three in a row since climbing to No. 2 in the AP poll. In his 20 years at Kansas, Bill Self has never lost four games in a row. But now, he’s on the bank of uncharted waters. Jalen Wilson has been spectacular in those three games averaging 30.3 points and seven rebounds. He needs somebody other than Gradey Dick to help shoulder the scoring load. Defensively, Kansas is going to have to figure out how to limit Tshiebwe’s dominance on the glass if they are going to get back to winning.
