Louisville out-played Florida State Saturday and the Cardinals were well on the way to earning a much-needed victory.
At one point in the second half, Louisville led 21-7 and looked like the better team on the field. An FSU comeback made it 24-21 and the Cards had the lead and the ball.
With 1:56 to go and Louisville driving for a game-winning score (while draining the clock), Bobby Petrino decided to throw a pass for no apparent reason. That’s when this happened:

Of course, the Seminoles drove right down the field from there and scored the game-winning touchdown.
There’s no other way to put it…Bobby Petrino blew it for his team. The players deserve better. The Cardinals are now 2-3 on the season and 0-2 in the ACC.
No other way to put it: Louisville lost to Florida State and the loss is on the head coach.

Petrino admitted the mistake after the game:

Florida State thanks you Bobby:
