You know you are recruiting monster when one of your recruiting rivals ends up watching you on television while hosting a recruit.
Stephen Zimmerman, coveted 5 star recruit from Las Vegas, was on a recruiting visit at Kansas with Bill Self and ended up watching part of the Kentucky NBA Combine with him at a restaurant. Jaylen Brown, Carlton Bragg and Brandon Ingram were also on a visit the same weekend.
Here is an excerpt of the story from Ben Roberts of Kentucky.com:
“It was kind of funny, because we were out to lunch with the team at Kansas and they had it on a couple of the TVs in the restaurant,” said Stephen’s mother, Lori. “Everybody was kind of watching it and commenting. So we saw a little bit of it, and it looked good. We want to watch the rest of it, we just haven’t had a chance yet.”
Did Kansas Coach Bill Self make them change the channel?
“No, no,” she said with a laugh, “he was watching it too.”
Chalk up another recruiting victory for Calipari.
I bet other coaches can’t stand Cal.
Of course, only in a competitive way, I’m sure.
