Bellarmine University beat Jacksonville 77-72 to win the ASUN Tournament championship tonight.
CJ Fleming led the Knights (20-13) with 27 points. Dylan Penn added 22.

Unfortunately, under NCAA transition rules (BU moved up to DI from DII), the Knights are ineligible to participate in the NCAA Tournament or NIT.
As a result, Jacksonville will also be left out of the field and the NCAA berth will fall back to Jacksonville State, which lost to Jacksonville in the semifinals of the tournament, but advance due to winning the regular season title.
Yes, that rule is incredibly stupid. No, it isn’t a surprise that the NCAA would have some stupid rule in place to punish its own members.
