Beechwood blocked an extra point in overtime to defeat Lexington Christian Academy 24-23 for the 2A state championship this evening.
The Tigers (10-2) stormed out to an early 14-0 lead, but LCA came back to take a 17-14 advantage in the third.
The Eagles (10-2) had a chance to win in regulation but the game-winning field goal attempt hit the left upright and crossbar before falling on the wrong side of the goal post.
In overtime, both teams scored a touchdown but the blocked kid gave the title to Beechwood.
