There is another Pope on the Kentucky men’s basketball staff. Head coach Mark Pope has added former Chaminade point guard Austin Pope to the staff as a graduate assistant.
Pope was an all-conference player for the Silverswords during his senior season.
Back in 2012, Pope called Kentucky his dream school.
“My dream school is Kentucky,” Pope told Nation of Blue. “Coach [John] Calipari produces great point guards and NBA players. I think my style really fits their system.”
Playing for the Wildcats didn’t work out, but Pope has found his way to Lexington as part of the coaching staff.
Pope announced his new position on social media.
