An experienced attorney says Auburn assistant coach Chuck Person was acting as an agent if the allegations from the FBI are true.
Here is an excerpt:
A local attorney with years of experience representing college athletes in NCAA eligibility cases says if the allegations are true, Chuck Person went from being a coach to an agent.
Don Jackson, whose law firm The Sports Group is based in Montgomery, believes strongly that Person and the three other assistant coaches arrested Tuesday aren’t the only ones who violated these laws in some form without knowing they were felony crimes.
“Candidly, I’m not sure many did, if any of them did, before these arrests happened (Tuesday),” Jackson said. “I’ve had this conversation virtually all Tuesday night and Wednesday morning with Division 1 coaches.”
Person was arrested and charged with six federal crimes including bribery conspiracy, solicitation of bribes and gratuities, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and travel act conspiracy.
