Arkansas guard Nick Smith Jr. out indefinitely for ‘right knee management’

Arkansas, which is already without rising forward Trevon Brazile due to knee injury, announced last night that star freshman guard Nick Smith Jr. is out indefinitely.

According to head coach Eric Musselman, Smith is out due to “right knee management” after struggling (5 points on 1-for-8 shooting) in Saturday’s game against Bradley.

Here is an excerpt from ESPN:

“He’s out indefinitely. That’s what it is,” Musselman said. “There’s nothing else. He’s out indefinitely and he’s going to continue to rehab the best he can.”

After being ranked as the No. 3 recruit in the ESPN 100 for the 2022 class, Smith is ranked as the No. 4 prospect in ESPN’s NBA draft rankings — the highest-ranked prospect playing college basketball.

Smith’s injury will be the second major absence for Arkansas in recent weeks, after breakout star Trevon Brazile tore his ACL earlier this month. Brazile is out for the season.
