Arkansas Electrocutes Kentucky 49-7

Joker Phillips was laughing about how young his team was going to Arkansas on Thursday.

Now the entire SEC is laughing.

The Arkansas Razorbacks dominated the Kentucky Wildcats 49-7 in a weather shortened game in Fayetteville this evening.

I really don’t know if there was any positive highlight for this Kentucky team in the first half as the Tyler Wilson led offense racked up 444 yards and any thoughts that Joker Phillips could return next season have seemed to vanish.

Jalen Whitlow could not get anything going at all on the offensive side of the ball, corralling only 88 yards in the 1st half, and went to the locker room down 42-0 at the half.

I should also mention the 1 hour 7 minute lightning delay as a positive of the game, because that was the only time Kentucky was not scored on this evening.

The second half started with a quick Razorback touchdown and then something happened I almost couldn’t believe.

Kentucky scored.

Jalen Whitlow threw a 61 yard touchdown pass to La’Rod King with 6:46 left in the 3rd quarter to make the score 49-7.

Not soon after, with 5:08 left in the 3rd, a second lightning delay suspended play.

That was all Arkansas needed as the game was called due to severe weather and lightning.

The Wildcats fall to 1-6 and Arkansas improves to 3-4.

If anyone cares, Kentucky plays at home vs. Georgia next week at 7pm.

Team Records and Series Notes

The game was suspended again because of lightning with 5:08 remaining in the third quarter and Arkansas leading 49-7.

Play would not resume due to weather. The game was officially called final at just past 11 p.m. ET.

Kentucky entered the game having played the fifth-toughest schedule in the nation, according to the Sagarin Computer Ratings in USA Today.

Kentucky is fielding one of the nation’s youngest teams, playing 14 true freshmen and 26 total (true and redshirt) frosh, one of the nation’s top-five teams in each category.

Highlighting the youth is the Wildcat secondary, which entered this game with one senior, one sophomore and six true freshmen on the two-deep.
