Andy Katz: Calipari Stands Up for the SEC

In Andy Katz’ 3 point shot he takes note of how Coach Cal took pride in the SEC’s performance this weekend, with Arkansas knocking of Michigan and Tennessee giving UCONN the business. Here is what Katz had to say:

[COLOR=#333333][FONT=verdana] [I]Kentucky coach John Calipari doesn’t want to hear about how the SEC does not have depth. Calipari was showing his conference pride late Saturday night in pumping up non-conference wins by Tennessee over Connecticut and Arkansas over Michigan. Meanwhile, Calipari does have some concerns about his Wildcats. He needs his team to be a bit more physical after Alabama pushed Kentucky quite a bit Saturday at Rupp Arena.

This is what its all about. Our conference resume is almost as important as our own, and who doesn’t like to see Michigan and UCONN get beaten anyways.

Regarding the CATS getting pushed around. Alabama did touch a bit of nerve on Saturday, taking the ball right at Anthony Davis and Terrence Jones, but they survived. And this only reinforces the need for toughness that Cal has been talking about. The CATS will get tougher, because the SEC will force them to do so.
