AJ Reed had one of his best nights as a pro, hitting his first grand slam of his pro career as the Tri-City ValleyCats won 16-3.
The Staten Island Yankees jumped out to a quick lead.
But the Yankees were not in the lead for long, as the ‘Cats first six batters reached and scored in the bottom of the second inning. The scoring was capped by first baseman A.J. Reed’s one-out grand slam smashed over the right field wall.
Reed’s home run, his fifth of the season, was the first grand slam hit by a ValleyCat this year. The 2014 second round draft pick out of the University of Kentucky finished the night 2-2 with three walks, three runs scored, and four runs batted in.
