Franklin County Catcher and 2012 UK commit Zach Arnold is a soft-spoken guy. I didn’t realize how soft-spoken until I reviewed the video, but he’s about as laid-back as they get. I was able to chat with Arnold about his recruitment and his summer recently.
We posted Zach’s 2011 stats in an earlier article when he won best offensive player, best defensive player, and overall MVP on the Franklin County team (.446 BA, 16 RBI, 1 home run, .987 fielding percentage and only 2 errors all year).
Among the things we learned about Zach in the interview: he is going to the Dominican Republic on a baseball/mission trip this summer, he has been contacted by Major League scouts from Kansas City and Atlanta, and his dad attended Kentucky.
Zach made the KHSBCA All-State team this year and played for the East in the East-West All-Star game. He was also selected a High Honorable Mention All-American by PerfectGame and one of the top 3-catchers at the UnderArmour All-American tryouts in Louisville this past April.
I can’t say enough about the character of players coach Bohannon is recruiting. They have all been very respectful and well-spoken, and Zach Arnold is no different. I expect him to be a great asset for Coach Henderson and the Bat Cats.

*CORRECTION* – The first posting of this article said that Zach’s dad played baseball for Kentucky. His dad attended UK, but he did not play baseball for UK.
