Xavier Rathan-Mayes has gained a lot of attention over the summer and Kentucky was a school that seemed interested in, but his father tells a different story.
Adam Zagoria spoke to Tharon Mayes about his son’s recruitment and he listed 6 teams that he is focused on.
Tharon identified those schools as Florida State, UConn, Memphis, Baylor, Alabama and UCLA.
“It’s tough,” Mayes told the paper. “He’s getting calls from everywhere. I think he’s finally got it down to five or six schools he’s interested in.”

My guess is with the Harrison Twins more than likely picking Kentucky and the possibility of his teammate Andrew Wiggins reclassifying there will be a logjam at the guard position in the Calipari’s 2013 class.
I am sure Rathan-Mayes, like any top 20 recruit, would like the chance to play right away and he probably thinks that might not happen at Kentucky.
