Overshadowed by the presence and buzz of reclassified Nerlens Noel, John Calipari and his staff also had another visitor on-hand for their win over Ole Miss Saturday.
Willie Cauley, who has already signed his Letter of Intent to play for Kentucky, was in Lexington for a short time over the weekend. Cauley caught up with NOB following his visit.
“There was a lot of people,” Cauley laughed, as he described the game and atmosphere against Ole Miss. “It sure seems like it’s going to be crazy every night.”
While Cauley was only in Lexington for approximately six hours, he had the chance to speak with the coaching staff a lot. He also had the opportunity to talk with a fellow shot-blocker in Noel.
“I talked to Nerlens a little bit. We didn’t really talk about him coming to Kentucky or anything, just about how we were doing since camps from the summer. We talked about how our basketball and school was going.”
Sure, Cauley wasn’t recruiting, but he definitely has an opinion toward Noel and his status with Kentucky.
“It would be sick if Nerlens came to Kentucky,” he said enthusiastically.
Cauley also went as far as believing that UK will reel in Noel, along with two other top recruits.
”We can land Nerlens, Shabazz Muhammad, and Anthony Bennett for sure. We may could get another one, too.
“I think Kentucky will bring in four more players, but I think at least three.”
The Kansas-native has a tentative plan as to when he will arrive on the Kentucky campus, but according to him, the earlier the better.
“I’ll be in Lexington by the first week of June for sure, if not the last week of May,” Cauley said excitedly.
Until then, the 7-foot star will continue his current basketball season. His squad currently sits at 17-1 with two more regular season games remaining. After that, the road to the state tournament begins.
