Maxpreps had an article out today saying that the Wildcats have the #1 class for 2012 – but it’s Villanova, NOT Kentucky. Villanova has the #17, #38 and #39 recruits in the nation. Let me repeat that, Villanova is currently in the top spot with national recruits #17, #38 and #39.
I feel the need to remind Maxpreps of two things:
First, Kentucky’s first three recruiting classes were as follows:
2009 – Wall (#1), Cousins (#2), Orton (#22), Bledsoe (#23) and Hood (#40)
2010 – Kanter (#3), Knight (#6), Jones (#13), Lamb (#21) and Poole (#33)
2011 – Davis (#2), Gilchrist (#3), Teague (#5) and Wiltjer (#22)
Second, the following 2012 recruits have not committed and still have Kentucky on their list (Rivals rankings):
Andre Drummond (#1)
Rodney Purvis (#2)
Shabazz Muhammad (#3)
Brandon Ashley (#6)
Ricardo Ledo (#7)
DaJuan Coleman (#8)
Kaleb Tarczewski (#13)
Archie Goodwin (#18)
Perry Ellis (#19)
I’d be willing to bet even money that Cal gets at least three of those, and probably four. Villanova? Please…
