On their way to visit Canada, Coach Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats will make a stop in Detroit to do some charity work. The Wildcats are always giving back, and this time, in a way that I would never have expected. During the event, they’ll wash the feet of youth who attend a new school called Detroit Leadership Academy, provide them with new shoes and then engage them in basketball drills.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
“It’s really neat the way Samaritan’s Feet does it,” said Calipari. “You can’t imagine the smiles and appreciation. It’s an amazing feeling to give those kids even a few minutes of that excitement that comes with getting new shoes.” The event will be held from 11am – 3pm at the Boll Family YMCA, 1401 Broadway Street, Detroit.
