Some of my fondest memories growing up, are those of playing Wiffle Ball in my grandmothers back yard. It was rare that you actually had enough people to cover every position on the field, so when you didn’t, you had to be creative with the rules.
Ghost Runners and Burn outs are just a few, but everyone knew that if the ball ever landed in the garden, it was automatic ground rule double. Gardens in the back yard was common place in southeast Kentucky. And you never wanted to be the reason why you’re not having “shuckie beans” for Sunday Dinner (explaining that will have to be it’s own blog post).
For those of you that didn’t grow up playing Wiffle Ball in the back yard or maybe you forgot how difficult the sport is when played correctly (yes it’s a sport), her’es sports science episode that’s a nice reminder.
