Lets look at some of the background information for tonight’s game.
Georgia and Kentucky met for the first time this season in Athens 37 days ago. The Wildcats finished first-half scoring with a 10-1 run, breaking open a tight game, en route to a 57-44 victory.
Today’s game is the 140th all-time meeting between these two schools in basketball. Kentucky leads the series, as it does against all of its longtime SEC brethren, by a lopside count: 114-25.
UK is 88-19 all-time on Senior Night and has won 12 of its last 14 Senior Night games and 44 of its last 48.
Georgia was indeed the last team to defeat Kentucky at Rupp Arena. Just one Bulldog participant from that 2009 contest returns for the game Thursday: senior guard Dustin Ware, who contributed 18 of his team’s 90 points that night.
UK has faced Georgia seven times previously as the No. 1 (AP) team. the Wildcats are 7-0 in those games, with the last meeting coming earlier this season in Athens.
Kentucky has held its last nine opponents to an average of 56.8 points per game.
