Terrence Jones and CJ Leslie
We should know more about it this evening, but if you didn’t know it, Terrence Jones is visiting Kansas today. One of the top players left in the 2010 recruiting class is near the top of Kentucky’s wish list and what happens today could influence his decision which is coming April 30. Jones’ buddy, Terrence Ross, has given hints on twitter he is going to commit to Washington. Jones and Ross had planned announcing together but it seems like Ross has already made up his mind and might decide officially a little earlier than his high school teammate.
All of the talk of Jones staying on the West Coast makes me think Kentucky has a better shot at C.J. Leslie. Leslie visited UCONN yesterday and he tweeted out he had “hella fun.” I personally think Kentucky has a better shot at Leslie than Jones, but with 18 year old kids it is hard to predict where either one of them will go. I would expect Leslie to announce in the next couple of days. Leslie’s Top 3 choices include UK, UCONN, and NC St. I had heard recently that the Wolfpack is probably the favorite. After these 2 decide where they are finally going it could open up other options for John Calipari.
I will wait to say who I think could be the next options if neither one of these guys come to Kentucky. I am of course a big fan of Chris Hill who I think would fit in perfectly in the DDM. Of course as soon as I start talking about him, everyone will say he isn’t going to be eligible or there is no way he plays in a Wildcat uniform. I think he will be eligible and if Jones and Leslie do what I think they are going to do, Hill will have a great shot of playing in Rupp next year.
I know what I think doesn’t mean a whole lot, and I am not going to act like it does. I just hope Kentucky gets the best possible players which will fit in the grand scheme of the DDM. Cal has hinted several times he probably won’t fill the roster out completely this year, which I think is to make room for the 2011 class. Larry Vaught said this morning on 630 WLAP he thought Kentucky would only get only 2 more recruits. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next week and what Cal will do if he doesn’t get Jones or Leslie.
